Severn Trent Water Hell Drivers! 🚚Chapter One: Unmarked Tankers ⚠️
Why The Secrecy? Why The Silence? Where's The Transparency?
6 May 2025:
This is the first instalment into our investigations into Severn Trent’s operations in Crowle, North Lincolnshire, since they closed off Windsor Lane and diverted traffic through Windsor Crescent, earlier this year.
In this chapter, we are looking into the mystery of the unmarked tankers.
27 March 2025 - 08:39am approx.
They arrived without warning, without logos, and without explanation. Unmarked white tankers — no company name, no hazard symbols — turning around in the road and trying to reverse down Windsor Crescent, towards the Severn Trent Water sewage pumping station at the end of the road. But what were they doing, and why the secrecy?
Then , another unmarked tanker was seen leaving, about an hour later:
As this tanker was reversing down the road, who should appear at the scene oft the ‘crime’ but…
Severn Trent Water!
First, he stops in the road, to put his wellies on! Then gets back in and drives down to the end of the road, where the reversing tanker, and another unmarked tanker are filling up.
He wasn’t pleased to see the Crowle resident taking snaps of him with his tanker buddies! Is he camera shy, or has he got something to hide?
If these were standard waste operations, wouldn’t markings and documentation be required? Or was this all part of quietly preparing the ground before formal applications were submitted?
Just for reference: here are some photos of the sewage pumping house:
Oh, the irony!
On that day, the Crowle resident raised this issue with the Environment Agency (case ref. 2372704), and an e-mail was sent to Cllr Julie Reed, N Lincs Council, at approx. 1pm & CC’d to the Town Council Clerk.
31 March - 10:04pm approx.
Unmarked tankers seen going up & down Windsor Crescent, stopping by the sewage pumping station, to fill up with sewage.
Why the switch to Night-time?
Could it have something to do with the e-mail sent to Cllr Julie Reed?
Coincidence?
Well, TWO days later, the same Crowle resident received via e-mail a “cease contact” letter from North Lincs Council, just over an hour after the resident visited the council offices in Scunthorpe with a fellow local resident, to discuss these issues with thw Highways Dept.
The very same Council, Council Leader Rob Waltham (see photo below) & the very same Ward Councillor (in fact, the one I emailed about the tankers, five days earlier), who claimed in their Conservative Party newsletter (Feb 2025) that they will be “scrutinising the project and update you”!
Questions raised here:
Why are the tankers unmarked?
Standard contractors display their company name on their vehicles.
Even if they are subcontractors for Severn Trent, they should still have some identifying details.
The fact that they are hiding their identity suggests they don’t want to be traced or scrutinized.
Are these activities compliant with environmental regulations, considering the land’s high flood risk?
Who is monitoring their operations to ensure they are not contaminating the local environment?
If they’re removing sewage:
Why are unmarked vehicles being used for this?
Are they licensed to handle and dispose of waste?
Is this being done without proper environmental oversight?
Why are Severn Trent’s marked vans appearing alongside them?
This confirms that the tankers are connected to Severn Trent.
If it were a completely independent operation, there wouldn’t be Severn Trent staff and vehicles involved at the same time.
If Severn Trent is operating outside of formal planning laws, this might explain why
unmarked tankers are being used—they don’t want full transparency.
Given that this area was deemed to be a high flood risk (Flood Zone 3A), residents are entitled to know the full scope of Severn Trent’s activities.
