🗞️ "Planning Concerns… When It Suits Them?" — Council Leader Slams Incinerator Approval

In a recent article published on North Lincolnshire Council’s own website, Council Leader Cllr Rob Waltham voiced strong objections to a government decision to approve a controversial waste incinerator in Flixborough.

Here’s what Cllr Waltham said:

“I am disappointed that the Government hasn’t listened to local residents.”

“This is bitterly disappointing and undermines the work of the local authority and the people of North Lincolnshire who have raised serious concerns.”

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the irony. When it’s a central government decision impacting his patch, the Council Leader is all for standing up for residents’ voices.

But when his own council is called out for bypassing planning scrutiny, suppressing local opposition, and working hand-in-glove with private contractors and drainage board members who are also councillors…
…those same voices are silenced, dismissed, or ignored.

📌 Crowle residents have:

- Raised concerns about possible breaches of planning regulations and a lack of proper permits
- Requested reasonable adjustments due to health issues
- Flagged evidence of potential conflicts of interest among councillors
- Attempted to engage in meetings and were met with gatekeeping and restrictions
- Received a letter from NLC effectively warning a vulnerable resident not to contact the council again
So we ask:
Why is the Council Leader disappointed when other authorities ignore residents, but not when his own council does the same?

🗣️ Accountability and transparency shouldn’t be selective.
If the voices of Flixborough residents matter, then so do ours.
