A Tale of Two Councils… and Contradictions
Tuesday 8 April 2025: Ahead of tonight’s council meeting, the residents behind this petition — all from the Isle Of Axholme — would like to share some key findings that highlight why transparency and consistency in local governance are so important.
On 24 March, the Town Clerk of Crowle & Ealand Town Council wrote in an email:
“The roadworks currently taking place are contracted between NLC and Severn Trent.”
However, a letter sent on 2 April by North Lincolnshire Council states:
“Severn Trent Water are not contracted by the council.”
This clear contradiction raises serious questions: are Severn Trent working under contract with the council — or not?
To add to the confusion, the same email from the Town Clerk (24 March) encouraged the Crowle resident, to whom it was sent, to attend a public council meeting and raise concerns. Yet just days later, a formal letter was issued by NLC warning the same resident to limit contact — effectively silencing the very engagement that had previously been invited!
This selective communication — and the apparent blurring of responsibilities between Town Council and North Lincolnshire Council — is part of a wider issue. It reflects the difficulty many ordinary residents face in getting clear answers or fair treatment when raising genuine concerns.
This petition is about ensuring that residents' voices are respected, and that public bodies act with transparency, consistency, and integrity. The contradictions exposed here show why that principle remains at the heart of this campaign.
🗣️ If you're a local resident and you're reading this — please consider attending the next council meeting in person. Unless otherwise stated, It usually takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, at 7:00pm, at Crowle Cemetery Meeting Room, Mill Road, Crowle, DN17 4LN.
Your presence, your questions, and your voice matters!
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
